The Institute was created in 2008 when the old Roslin Insitute, which was part of the Biotechnology & Biology Research Council, merged with the University of Edinburgh. Aims The primary objectives are to:
Organisation of research The Roslin Institute's research is managed over four scientific divisions under the directorship of Professor David Hume. The divisions are: Research studentships The Roslin Institute provides a high-qulity training environment in biological research with an excellent standard of facilities and expertise available to students. Currently some 50 PhD students are based at the Institute. For more information see the Institute's jobs/training web page. Facilities The Institute currently occupies laboratories close to the village of Roslin on the outskirts of Edinburgh. From 2010 it will be based in a new £58M building on the University of Edinburgh's veterinary campus at Easter Bush.
